snow daze
more snow is coming from what i hear, at least 10 to 20 cm starting this afternoon along with high winds. so i'm not going up to the office.
i had to go up to campus yesterday and realized just how ill prepared i am for snow. the only shoes i have that have any grip left on them at all also have a few holes worn into the sole...thus not ideal for keeping my feet high and dry.
it is clearly evident that vancouver is not prepared either....or perhaps it's just that people can't get out of their 'but it doesn't snow here' mind set.
it's - 7 and i see women with short skirts and high heel boots trying to navigate over ice. the bikers are still out in force too, even though i doubt their tires can handle it.
perhaps i shouldn't be too critical, to their credit, non of the short skirted high heel women i saw bailed while i was watching...but a couple cyclists came awfully close.
well i'm going to go get some proper shoes today and stock up on groceries so i can ride out the approaching snow. even though its unlikely that it will last long... but some footwear that keeps my feet dry would be good.
i lifted the pic from a photoblog, it's not vancouver...
these things happen when you don't have a digital camera

-7 eh? Did you lose power? Spoken with a few people out on the coast in the last couple of days that lost power for extended periods.
I'd have more sympathy for you, but it was -27 when I left the house this morning.
Get Mark of Chaos.
Oh, and digital cameras are over-rated. Yep. Not just trying to make you feel better. Nope.

Yeah, it was pretty cold the last week. Today is like -5 so it is not bad. When I lived in Vancouver, I was amazed at the attitude of people when it snowed. Pretty much stop everythign and wait until the rain comes to melt it....
But then, have you seen the tires on some vehicles in Vancouver? I am amazed they have traction on dry pavement.
jeff, you need to pick up a snowmobile for just such occassions. have it tuned up and ready to go. You would be crusing like a king down broadway. Think of the chicks asking for a lift.....

Eh, let me qualify Warhammer: Mark of Chaos for you, J.
You'll want to upgrade first, it's a system devourer on anything as low-end as your current system (or mine).
The intro movie is worth downloading on it's own. Find it and enjoy, it's very well done.
Decently fun, though no Medieval Total War (the original). Armies range in the 200-500 size, heroes play a significant role. Limited unit selections and equivalents in most ways in the various forces. AI is... pretty limited. Of course, the AI in MTW was pretty bad, so that's no issue. No diplomancy, just missions.
Story is decent, graphics are good zoomed in, pretty unimpressive zoomed out. Combat is fast-paced. Faster than I'd like, honestly. Not twitch oriented, but less tactical than it could be.
Can see it would probably be quite fun against a human opponent though.
Have you you picked up Neverwinter 2? MTW 2?
No skool 4 u!!111!1

What is the thrill of NWN2? How is the multiplayer on it? With no high speed internet, I can't see myself playing it at all MP, unless it is over the LAN at home.

Haven't bought NWN2, so can't actually say. Much less time for gaming these days, for some reason...
Was thinking J might have cracked and picked it up though. Apparently, the single-player is much better than in the first one, but that's from the reviews... and usually, reviewers don't know what they're talking about.

And I, for one, welcome our new piscine overlords!
