Article 2 Draft 1
(this is a picture i took of the machine that makes liposomes, the little microscopic containers that carry drugs, that i talk about in the 2nd article of the series)
I have been working hard this week, but i did cheat a little from my intial proclamation. I watched some internet TV (at home not at the office) and I got into the office a little late most days, like at around 9 or 10 am.
I also never stayed past 7pm, i'd get too hungry and my eyes would start bugging out.
But other than that, I got work done.
At one minute to 6pm yesterday I sent off a close to full draft of article #2 to my supervisor that clocks in at 1751 words, which is a good size for a magazine feature.
I know I said before that I'd go until I had a publishable draft, but I'm missing a few things that I can't get on short notice Friday afternoon (I did try) or on the weekend.
I need a response from my main interview subject, or maybe a new subject entirely, as to some major weaknesses and the future direction of using liposomes (see little note above) to deliver RNAi (RNA based molecules that can silence gene activity).
It's a little funny that I don't have any interview material already addressing it, but the focus of the article has been shifting over the past month and my supervisor and I came with a new focus a few weeks ago, so some of my early interview material I couldn't use.
But this is why you have to sit down and do a full draft, you never really know what more you need until you get everything down on paper.
So i'm on my mini weekend now, which will be all of today and a little of tomorrow. I plan on working most of Sunday to polish the article and send out emails to setup an interview or two for next week so that I can finalize this article and move onto #3.
Today I get to do all the fun things I've been putting off all week: cleaning, shaving, bill paying, hair cutting, and laundry.
